Kelly, Saphia and I have been traveling side by side, backpacking around the world for the past six months. So far, we have traveled thru Mongolia, Thailand, Vietnam, Burma, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia. Today marks the beginning of our seventh month of travels, which is also the day we fly up to the United States from Colombia. We had some down time during our stay in Cartagena this past week and we decided it's time for a Kelly to have her photoshoot with me! Her fabulous makeup and hair were done by the amazing Saphia Najafee.
Jenny is a multi-talented friend who is also a brilliant producer of theatre shows here in Hong Kong. Jenny and I met backstage a few years ago in one of the shows we were both involved in. I was so excited when Jenny asked me to photograph her portrait. I loved seeing her transformation from backstage to being front and center under the spotlight. Her fabulousness and joyful spirit are practically pouring out of these photographs.
I proudly share a few of our favorites from her session below.

Before & After
I will be trekking the globe for a year starting the end of September 2015. Though I will no longer be based in Hong Kong, limited portrait sessions are available internationally during my travels.

Elegance. Delicate. Radiance. These are the words that come to mind when I think of Rina. We had so much fun planning her photoshoot and had even more fun during the shoot. We had planned for an outdoor session in Tsuen Wan but the weather decided to send in a thunderstorm that day so we made a change of plans and turned her apartment into a studio for the day! We shot some in her apartment and some in the lobby of her apartment complex. You would be surprised to see that the images shot inside her bedroom looked like they were shot in a studio. I'm a big believer in hacking to "make it work" à la Tim Gunn. No bad weather or location will get in our way towards an amazing portrait session!
And now, I am delighted to present to you some of the images we absolutely love from Rina's session.
While I'm working on carving out a little space for a home studio, I'm still loving (and will forever love) photographing portraits outdoor, in natural light. There are so many unexpected places that would make for a perfect backdrop. Turn a left here, go around the corner there, and even down that little alleyway between the industrial buildings. This is one of the reasons why I love shooting out and about in Hong Kong.
For Carly's portrait session, we originally planned to shoot on the beach. However, plans changed and we decided we would head up to The Peak instead. The beach would have been great but the shoot on The Peak turned out amazing. Carly has recently become a certified yoga instructor so I designed her session to be filled with all her favorite poses. She was so great about being in the moment and in this series, she truly is in one with nature.
Adam and I recently worked on a musical by Hong Kong Players called Dick Barton: Special Agent. I had such a fun time both on stage pretending to be different people and off stage as the show's photographer. We met up recently to update his headshots and we decided to shoot in his backyard, literally. I love photographing in natural light and incorporating elements of the area in the images. It was perfect doing the session in his outdoor patio and in the graffiti alleys around Happy Valley.
Here are some of my favorites from the session:

Loving my new Esprit flapover bag! The pop of red is perfect for Summer and it's big enough to fit all you'll need for the day in the city. For my fellow thespians, yes, it's definitely big enough to fit a script! Thank you to my gorgeous friend, Zara, for flying in from NYC to be my model for the day!
Check out other Esprit items over at ZALORA. Their shipping is super fast. My order arrived within two days of ordering.
I am so excited to share these images from my photoshoot with Tani and Tom! Tom contacted me and wanted to gift a photoshoot for his girlfriend, Tani's birthday. It so happens that work will also be sending her away to London for six months starting in March, so he wanted to get some photographs of them together so that she could take some memories of home away from home with her during this trip.
Tom is from the U.K. and Tani is from Australia, and they've both made Hong Kong home now for several years. They are amazing to shoot and Tani is gorgeous inside and out. They are such a beautiful couple and I love all of their images from our photoshoot.
